Greetings Grasshoppas, welcome to the seventh teaching of HACK. If you’ve made it this far, don’t forget to update your privacy settings.
“You have no right to ask me how I feel.
You have no right to speak to me so kind.”
I’m sick of hearing about rights. Our Bill of Rights, your right to bear arms, the right to life, I have the right of way, etc. We justify our ego-based existence on these rights. After all, we (or our ancestors) fought for these rights, which are natural, God-given, and well, they just exist. They must exist, or we’d never have gotten this far. Right?
Wrong.
The concept of individual rights is as imaginary as the girlfriend who keeps me warm at night. You have no right to anything. It is only by collective agreement (communities, governments, civilizations) that these made-up rights get treated as real. You are not born with these rights. They are given to you. At any time another human being could take them away, even if the made-up consequences for violating the made-up rights are painful.
The belief in natural rights is an extension of our fear-based need for security. I’m sorry if I have to be the one to tell you this but there’s no such thing as security. Even those with short term memories remember 9/11, or the earthquake/hurricane/tornado trifecta we had less than a month ago, or the financial system collapse that severely depleted your “future security,” or the tsunami in Japan, the nuclear reactor breakdown and so on, ad nauseam. There is no such thing as security for the future, no matter how much you want to delude yourself into thinking there is even such thing as “the future.”
“There is no future. It ain’t comin’. It doesn’t exist.” —Bill Hicks
There is no security external to your core spiritual self which is eternal, omnipotent and unchanging. You cannot put your faith in the things you continue to perceive as separate from you. Your faith must lie in the realization that YOU ARE EVERYTHING.
I don’t feel entitled to anything because I realize that the Universe is a place where ANYTHING IMAGINED CAN HAPPEN RIGHT NOW. So really, I should just be grateful for that. So I’m not holding onto things like a retirement plan, “priceless” material objects, or “true” “love,” or even the hope that I will make it to work tomorrow without dying in a horrible accident. And if you read last week’s HACK then you know the latter is highly probable.
This is why people literally went into a state of shock when 9/11 happened. I hear all this talk about how we “grew up” then or that we were so naïve before. Actually, you were just ignorant. You were the United States of Ego, made of up of patriotic egos, separating yourself from the Others and not bothering to ever get to know them as reflections of yourselves.
Now I used “you” there as a general pronoun. But come on, if a terrorist attack on American soil actually surprised you, you were painfully uninformed. I don’t mean “surprised you” as in, on that day you were surprised. We were all in Holy Shit mode at that point. What I mean is that even though what they did was absolutely horrible, if you think people hate our country without provocation then you clearly don’t understand American foreign policy for the last couple of centuries.
Oh, by the way, money isn’t real either. Neither is the concept of property, nor the concept of ownership. You do not own anything, ever. You only possess it temporarily. There goes that sense of entitlement again when someone steals your property, or your lover wants to date someone else, or a family member ate your leftovers. Furthermore, just because we all agree to act like these things are real [see Pragmatism] so we can co-exist peacefully, it does not actually make them real. Not that I can tell you what “real” actually means, just that we’ve been making this all up as we go along. If we get stuck in our made up games to the point where we disavow any other way to play, our imaginary rules become a prison of abstraction.
“But Marc,” you say, “Without things like human rights and social institutions, all would be anarchy and chaos, random sex in the streets and looting and riots.” My reply is, “What’s wrong with random sex in the streets?” But seriously, I’m not saying we don’t need these institutions. I’m saying we need to internalize their core value structures. It will literally take every single human being on the planet to become self-actualized enough for this to happen. Most people will scoff and say this is never going to happen. Regretfully, that very belief is what delays us from actualizing the vision of something better.
Recall the Hermetic adage, “As above, so below.” The Universe is a hologram. Interactive patterns on a galactic scale are the same interactive patterns straight on “down” to the quantum scale. It’s all the same at all levels of perception.
So think of a cell. A cell is essentially a life form. It is self-sustaining and reproduces. When cells work together, they can form an organism that manifests a higher consciousness. Yet thanks to the holographic universe, that consciousness is reflected in the DNA of every single cell, just we are reflections of a consciousness yet beyond ours. So if you raise the magnification level then we are the cells. Right now we’re still caught in fuck/fight/flight mode. We’ve begun to form higher organs and bodily systems–our precious social institutions. What we are actually doing is birthing a a planetary organism, a global mind of which we are the individual neurons, if you will.
The concept of privacy is also a bunch of bunk. Do I really need to provide examples of how you are either being watched, manipulated, categorized, recorded, or researched? Granted, there are so many of us spouting our particular view of things that those who think original thoughts are a threat don’t have the time to watch us all…at once…not yet.
Even if you refuse to get a Facebook account or never write anything on the internet that could get you fired from your job, “they” still know everything about you. “They” being whoever has enough time, resources and persistence. We generate a need for privacy because we’ve made ordinary idiosyncrasies unacceptable or inappropriate, when pretty much all of us are just simple human beings trying to make our way in the universe.
I’m a pretty open-hearted guy. I have no problem being completely honest with anyone and would expect nothing less from any other human being I encounter. Yet adulthood seems to be more about presenting the correct facade rather than having the freedom to express yourself in whatever way you wish. This is precisely why the Internet is a haven for those who feel they can’t fully express themselves in the “real world.”
Nevertheless, your life is no longer private. In fact, your ego’s thoughts are no longer private. I’m not talking about telepathy here. Telepathy is only an exchange of information between minds. Since our minds (heart + brain) are part of the One Mind, telepathy is simply the mutual awareness of a simultaneously created (received) thought. Some of you believe a God sees and remembers everything you do. I would say that all of it is recorded in the Akashic Records. You say tomato, I say, stop using God as a fill-in-the-blank for your fickle philosophy. Either way you choose to look at it, it seems clear that the concept of individual privacy has gone the way of the Dodo.
Unfortunately, we’re stuck in the ‘external technology phase,’ just as we’re stuck in the ‘external social institutions phase.’ We can connect with people across the planet instantaneously, all while sitting in front of a 2-D computer screen, often completely alone. This is why we need to escape from the 3-D cell (callback pun intended) and raise a 4-D hell to 5-D heaven. Have no idea what the limbo I’m talking about at this point? Don’t worry, you will eventually.
Believe me, I’ll be the first one to defend our made-up right to privacy, given my strong penchant for a hermit-like existence. I prefer being alone with myself to spending time with just about any other person I know. Yes, it’s selfish and it can get damn lonely. I do not claim to be ready for complete ego loss. That’s why I only deal with you people in short bursts; you’re like smoke breaks for my soul.
Just try to enjoy your alone time while you can. When our separate egos dissolve into a single consciousness, we’ll all be eternally aware of each other as only us…nothing to hide, nothing to be ashamed of, nothing to fear, NO MORE BAD THOUGHTS. At least, that’s what they keep telling me.
We’ll get there folks. I mean, we’re already there. This was a great dream but it’s time to wake up. The Universe has you surrounded and I have hacked your mind.
“I might just find myself looking in your eyes. But for now, we’ll go on living separate lives.”

“Dodo last spotted lurking around a Genesis reunion concert.”
Laugh out loud funny.
Ya still got it, Abacab!
