HACK № 63: It Doesn’t Matter Whether Or Not Voting Matters

Due to Hurricane Sandy I’ve been off from work for 11 days now. Unfortunately, where I once could sleep 12 – 15 hours straight, my career consciousness is programmed to wake up early with the usual vague sense of anxiety.

What better way to cleanse that anxiety than with clear, focused hate? That’s why I started watching Fox News in the morning. It’s the perfect form of hatertainment . This guy on some message board — and yes, I realize I deserve what I get looking into THAT whorehouse of unfettered opinion — was talking about how like Barack Obama was the enemy of human freedom. Patriotism Is Lame

Fuck Independence Day. Not the movie Independence Day. That movie’s pretty good, I’m watching it right now. I don’t even mean Fuck Independence Day as in I don’t care about history or the fact that the Declaration of Independence was a unique document formed around ideas that evolved us a species. I just mean–it was a long time ago. Where’s the holiday for the writing of the Tao Te Ching? Or let’s celebrate The Council of Trent when the grand ‘ol Catholic Church decided what books would stay in the Bible and which ones would go? Looking for something more American? I realize I will immediately be dismissed as a crank the moment I say this, but conspiracies happen. Think about it for a moment after your immediate emotional response of “Oh, that’s ridiculous!” and you will see that I am right. The literal definition of “conspire” is “breathe together” — con-spire, get it? — and conspiracy is as old as humanity. Any time two people come together to plan in secret; any time two people decide to conceal some action or information from a third, a conspiracy has occurred. Howdy Laborers, welcome to the forty-sixth organized protest of HACK. If you’ve made it this far, I’m looking for a friend with benefits.

First of all, I really could care less about all this temporal human nonsense. My knowledge on this very subject is scant at best, so don’t expect a lot of detail or corroborating “facts.” Hell, I never even read The Jungle when it was required in high school.

Anyway, unions. As I understand it, we created unions as a defensive reaction against oppressive corporate entities that demanded exorbitant labor from their employees without giving them any basic human benefits. Unions became our protection from the unstoppable force of centralized human greed. I don’t believe in aliens. Let’s start there. I don’t believe in aliens. Or rather, let me expand and clarify. When I say I DON’T believe in aliens, I don’t mean to say that I DO believe that there NO aliens, just that I don’t have any belief at all. Belief is the death of intelligence, as Robert Anton Wilson memorably said. I have no knowledge of the existence of aliens, so I don’t draw any conclusions. That said, I don’t see any particular reason TO believe in aliens, either.

I Don’t Belong Here: Marriage Is For Tools

Marriage is for tools. Now wait, before the irrational reptilian part of your brain begins to immediately object. Let me explain. I do not mean to imply that if you are married, you are a tool. I am actually trying to directly come and state it. That marriage is for tools. You tool. Okay. NOW feel free for your reptilian emotional response. I’m just saying, I’m not drinking the Kool-Aid on this one, gang. Inflammatory remarks aside, marriage is an antiquated social institution that dates back to the days when human beings were considered property. Like? SLAVERY. Just. Saying. People aren’t property. Humans have invented all sorts of new meanings for marriage on a semantic and social level, but at the underlying core it is still about property. At least that’s how I see it through the lens of my outsider logic.

If I should die tomorrow, or for that matter any day after today, or if you’re reading this 100 years from now and so I’m probably dead at this point — regardless, when I am gone, I hope that I am remembered for more than just “HE RUINED MY LIFE” (which I didn’t) or “HE FUCKED MY GIRLFRIEND” (which I probably did — sorry). I would want to be remembered for more than the time I was a toddler and my mother found me dancing in the toilet in sleeper pajamas. As someone that has lived his life on an almost purely cerebral level, I would rather be remembered for the ideas I have created and or added to and or spread around.
